Holy shit, Akil! Damn, you totally threw me for a loop when I saw your name. In your honor, I've added a sixteen year old photo on the latest Sopranos post about Episode 68. Ladies and gents, for those who don't know it, we are in the presence of royalty. King Akil and I used to mooch rides from my boy Paul every day to high school. It's damn good to hear from you, my man.

I'm very sorry to hear about your mother going through that--it's tough when things you can't control happen like that.

Keep on checking in with us and let us know what you think as the season progresses. Also, e-mail me offline so we can catch up.

I waited all week to see this.. How depressing, this episode is indeed weird and almost unbearable considering that my mom has been in the same place, not by a gunshot, but due to a brain hemorrhage. This hit right at home, I almost shed a tear. This is lot different from when Chris got shot by those kids. You knew that there was going to be some sort of retaliation, now we have a cynile mummy (as aj would say) with Alzheimer’s. I am not looking forward to seeing grandpa get whacked. Or next weeks miserable episode unless Tony somehow miracously comes out of his coma and walks into the Bada Bing ready to slam a yeager shot and gets back to business. I will watch it anyway though. Where is this going? By the way, Josh what's up.

"I'm different..." That's what Tony whispered through chapped lips to Carmella.

Yes...I think he is. The problem is, his crew is the same bunch of self-centered, selfish, back-biting assholes they've truly always been. Their motto ought to be "It's all about me." Their mantra is most definitely not "What have you done for me lately." It's more like: "What have you done for me in the last 5 minutes."...Like a bunch of 2 year olds...they want what they want when they want it.

Yep Josh, I think you may have it pinned down...AJ's getting ready to do something REALLY stupid...and obviously with a gun.

Paulie is a Class A SOB...as is Vito and Christopher and Sil (and that's sorta surprising...I always thought of him as the loyal disciple).

Meadow...the voice from the gentle breeze that acts as Tony's siren song...a positive siren song.

And Carmella...When she moistens Tony's lips at the end speaks volumes in just a few words..."the simple things."

Take it from someone who's fighting cancer (for the third time)...the simple things take on a far greater degree of importance when your mortality is tested...maybe that's why I notice the little things to a far greater degree than ever before...and I'm willing to bet, Tony will too.
John: I love it--the KeV as a unit of energy--that is fantastic! I think I'm good with that--thanks for hooking us up with that tidbit.

Judy: That's a great point about the breakthrough of his sessions finally coming through. We saw the whole meat-breakthrough session which felt a little trite in retrospect and perhaps that's because we were still watching omnisciently from the background. Perhaps this deliberate decision to let us inside Tony's head as this internal breakthrough occurs is showing us exactly who he is without his shadow.

I'm reminded of the Tool song 46 &2 where Maynard sings about stepping through his shadow, coming out the other side, and starting to rebuild from his true nature after clearing out all the scabs from tired old muscle.

I'm sorry to say, but I think AJ might end up a casualty this year. The bottom line is that Tony made it into the mafia during a time when it was easy for pure anger, rage, ambition, and social status to make a difference, a time when RICO was in its infancy. AJ will not be so lucky, I'm afraid and I think we'll be seeing our first Soprano funeral since that of Livia in the third season.

One thing is for sure--both of these families will not survive intact in what's to come. One is going to have to burn away forever in order to salvage the other.

Fantastic comments everyone, keep them coming. I plan on opening up this forum after each week's episode.

keV is a unit of energy. Hence keV infinity would imply that Tony still has plenty of energy in him and he's not going to be dying any time soon.
