I’ve been doing some research on Windows Vista, even downloaded Word and Excel 2007 (can anyone give me a halelujuah on the 1,000,000 rows and 16,000 columns of possibility in the new Excel?) and I’ve come up with a short list of reasons why I want to upgrade and another list of why I won’t right now.

Five Reasons I Want to Upgrade to Windows Vista

  • The Graphics are Amazing: Sat goodbye to 2D, my brothas and sistas because everything is 3D in Vista and it looks amazing, which leads me to my second reason.
  • Flip 3D Menus: Say goodbye to the littel alt-tab box where you had to rely on file names to get to what you’re looking for. The Flip 3-D function lets you see all your open files in a sideway 3-D view so you can flip through and find what you’re looking for much easier.
  • Sidebar Gadgets: There are dozens of tools you can now place on your desktop sidebar, from RSS feed readers to weather to you XBOX 360 achievements to just about anything you’d want (and some you wouldn’t).
  • Backup Utility is Built In: I have been waitin for Windows to add this functionality into their system tools because almost every third-party application I’ve used didn’t work for shit. Hopefully, this one will be a big improvement.
  • Windows Media Home Edition Will Finally Work with My XBOX 360: I have been waiting to get my music and photos wirelessly for over a year and I will finally be able to

Five Reasons I Won’t Upgrade to Windows Vista Right Now:

  • Too Expensive: Weighing in at over $150, that’s a pretty hefty ticket price for convenience and coolness.
  • Some of My Drivers Won’t Work: Quickbooks and Sony Vegas Suite are two that definitely won’t work with XP and two that I definitely use–this is a major obstacle for me.
  • My Computer isn’t Powrful Enough Yet: I need a new graphics card and that’s a pain in my balls and an expense I need right now like a screw in my anus.
