My cousin Jason sent me this e-mail yesterday:

Josh,

Did you hear about Circuit City firing 3,400 of its top paid employees to replace them with minimum wage workers with no sales experience? These employees were all fired on Wednesday and escorted out of the store. They were told that they could re-apply in 10 weeks for their jobs at lower wages. I just cant believe they can get away with such brazen profit inducing tactics. I have to wonder if this is going to send a ripple effect through the retail industry. Im a Sales Manager at [a home improvement store] and I make some decent change, I could very easily see this company trying to pull the same shit on its employees. It bothers me what most people say when I tell them about this, “I will shop with whoever has the lowest prices.” If people do not start standing up for each other, we are at the mercy of the corporations and globalists. I plan on picking up an HD TV in the coming months along with Xbox games, movies, etc. I can promise you it wont be from Circuit City. What do you think are the chances you will see illegal immigrants selling TVs, cameras, and everything else at CC in the coming months?

Turns out, he’s right and my response to this nickle-wise and ducket-foolish bean counter decision by Circuit City is that I will be taking my business elsewhere. It’s a shame because Circuit City had just gotten back into my good graces from the time I was hired as an electronics salesman back in 1994 and when I went in for training, they stuck me in a room for six hours with a book (no water, no food, no human contact). I left and told the manager to go fuck himself when he called me the next day to find out what happened to me (he actually called with an attitude).

Thanks for the heads up on this Jason. I’m about to go drop $180 bills on a new five hunny giggy hard drive for all my video files since I’m back into video editing due to the massive 22″ widescreen LCD monitor I just picked up.

…and you can bet it won’t be at Circuit City.
