As a general rule anymore, politics bores the shit out of me–except when we’re talking about Big Brother. How about Evel Dick pulling off the biggest upset in BB history? I actually like Dick right now–he’s my favorite to win although I know he’ll never make it to the final two. You’ve gotta root for the underdog even when he’s lying under the dog.
But as I was saying, I’m not much on politics anymore–kind of lost my stomach for it after Katrina when I realized that politics in America has nothing to do with the public interest and everything to do with the vested interest. And while I’m a huge fan of individual liberty, self determination and bartering value for value–the American political machine has pretty much bored the shit out of me and I think it’s time that everyone in the house was voted out, pun intended.
I was talking to my buddy at work today about Karl Rove resigning and he’s convinced that he’s pulling out because Bush is going to invade Iran before his term is up and he doesn’t want any part of it. I took it with a grain of salt until I saw today that Tony Snow was resigning and he also said several other high level resignations are on their way. A whole lot of somebody’s are jumping ship and that’s usually because there’s an explosion coming followed by fire.
I become more and more disheartened by the Executive Branch each day, especially when I read things like how Bush ‘43 has borrowed more money during his presidency than all 42 Presidents prior to him combined (and this was using 2005 data).
Fucked up shit is afoot when even the Comptroller General of the US (honestly I have no clue what this guy even does) says that the US is on a “burning platform’ of unsustainable policies and practices” and makes legitimate comparisons to the fall of the Roman empire with our “declining moral values and political civility at home, an over-confident and over-extended military in foreign lands and fiscal irresponsibility by the central government.”
But things are not all bad, my peeps. Bruce Springsteen has reunited with the E Street Band for the first time since their opus The Rising (about 9/11) and there are about four or five great video games coming out in the next few months.
Speaking of–I’ve been playing the demo for BioShock on the 360 and I have been blown away every time I’ve played it. Normally, I’ll play a demo for a couple minutes and delete it. I’ve played the entire BioShock demo four times now and I’m kind of itching for the game despite that it has no online multiplayer. I really dig the Ayn Randian themes, architecture and setting mixed up with good old fashion horror and fantasy. Plus, there’s nothing like shocking the shit out of someone with 10,000 volts in a video game and then cracking their head open with a nice pixelated lug wrench.
