After much deliberation, I have decided to leave the Powerblogs platform. There are a few reasons for this. Antimedia was the one who convinced me to transfer platforms from the free Blogger site to a paid hosting platform and I’m still thankful for that advice.

Powerblogs allowed me to take ownership of my blog to a new level. This platform allowed me much more control than Blogger did at the time and also offered many of the high-end features that the free platforms did not.

But times have changed and those high-end features are considered standard anymore. Two things also happened with Powerblogs–the owners stopped talking to us. They had a development blog but haven’t posted on it since July 7th, 2006 (not a good sign). Furthermore, they stopped selling to new customers (even worse of a good sign for any business). I’m not sure what happened behind the scenes but the landlords have been absent.

That being said, the developers have created a hell of a product here and I hope they one day open it up again for general purchase. I still plan on keeping my family site with Powerblogs.

Third, I met my buddy Chad at work who offered up his design team to totally redo my site and move it onto an independent server using Wordpress. I really like his redesign and think it matches very closely the tone and content of what I write about. It looks better than anything I could have done on my own and I wanted a site that will look professional as I move into the next stage of my writing career.

I’ve got some kinks to work out with the RSS feed and some of you may have to resubscribe but the domain name will remain the same so hopefully the only dip in readership will be from those spamming assholes out there who I don’t want reading my stuff anyway.

As always, I deeply appreciate your continued readership and ask you to continue with me in mmy online writing journey.

Thanks,

Josh
