My article If You’re Serious About Writing,You Need Your Own Website was published today on Every Writer’s Resource Dot Com.
This fantastic website is a must read for any author looking to develop their publishing career. I was very happy when my good friend Richard Edwards informed me about starting this site. He was once editor of a great literary site called Drunk Duck dot com which doesn’t exist anymore but was way ahead of its time. Richard and I were peers in the BGSU BFA Undergraduate Writing program and even back then he was a writer’s writer. He looked like a writer. He talked like a writer. Better yet, he wrote like a writer (I still remember a very freaky and excellently written short story about a puppet maker he wrote that sticks with me to this day).
Make sure to check out Every Writer’s Resource (always in my blogroll under Writing Resources). Rich has got some fantastic interviews with some of the biggest names in writing like Junot Diaz, Stephen Dunn and many others. There are tons of valuable links and even some helpful articles from knuckleheads like me.

I just read your article on Every Writer’s Resource website. I’ve had a writing website for 10 years, but I would only update the site every once in a while, and the site would often go into cobwebs. Last year, I kept a blog and then there was a six month silence period. Recently, I decided something had to change regarding my online presence. A couple of months ago, I returned to writing regularly for my blog. A few weeks ago, with the help of Mac’s iWeb, I revamped my website by tweaking one of their template, created a podcast page, and decided on a regular schedule for updating the site. Fiction would be updated monthly, essays every two weeks, and podcasts on a weekly basis. By constantly putting up new content, readers have something to return for more.
I also had a podcast page created on iTunes. It’s definitely something for writers to consider if they wish to present readings in audio or video formats.
