I just watched the footage of the President’s “tour” of the flooded heartlands and I couldn’t be more disappointed in him as a leader. It was a parade of photo op bullshit as Tom Harkin cork soaked to get that disaster money. Eff that! Bush should have been out there shucking tomatoes and sand bagging for five hours. Then maybe I would believe the compassionate conservative really gives a fig about something other than his precious War on Errorism.

It don’t matter, Uncle Josh. What the hell is a president gonna do? They come by and “view” the destruction, and a big so what? If he’d stay home and actually do something (of course they don’t, really, but still) it would be different. But there are so many dumbasses, like the dumbasses who faulted him for just flying over the Katrina destruction.
Looking at it just wastes fuel and tax money that could be spent on helping the folks out. How about the politicos just say something like, “I’m donating the expense of a trip to view the destruction to the victims, and I’ll throw in two million dollars of my campaign chest to boot.”
Never happen.
